Elk Rapids provides the best live entertainment, from free concerts in
the summer at Wednesday Evenings on River Street to high school
performances at Peterman Auditorium. See Elk Rapids' best thespians
perform at the Old Town Hall as part of the Elk Rapids Players, a new
incarnation of an historic local troupe that delivers wonderful family
entertainment.
Catch a professional show with Parallel 45, northern Michigan's
only professional theater troupe. Parallel 45 brings nationally recognized
artists to northern Michigan to produce innovative new works, imaginative
adaptations, and reinvented classics that inspire, entertain, and encourage
critical thought. This August experience their take on Shakespeare with Joe
Calcarco's Shakespeare's R&J.

A destination spot for art lovers, Elk Rapids boasts four unique galleries
who host the biannual Art Beat, an all-day, open house gallery walk. Elk
Rapids is also home to Art Rapids!, a grassroots organization dedicated to
enhancing the arts and art education through grants, scholarships, awards,
and classes.
New in 2013 is the Art Rapids! Walk of Art, an outdoor sculpture exhibit
that will give residents and tourists a new way to experience art and nature.
Opening in May 2013 at the Elk Rapids Day Park on South Bayshore Drive,
the park will introduce five sculptures this year. A grand opening celebration
is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 4-6 p.m. and will feature live music and
art demonstrations.
